I'm having a recurrent issue with Microsoft Office applications:

At regular intervals the apps stall when I save new documents. The app freezes after I click save and the save-dialogue just stays on the screen (see attached screenshot). The only way to get rid of it is to restart the machine. Force quitting the app and relaunching Finder doesn't help. I have also re-installed Microsoft Office, which didn't solve the problem.

I'm using a MacBook Pro 2017 with latest version of High Sierra, and the Office apps are also up to date.

Any advice much appreciated.

Not sure I understand... from your screenshot it appears you're saving to PDF? Is this where the hangup occurs or is it occurring in MS Office itself when saving a document?

Thanks, chscag. No, I'm not changing file formats, just using "save as" to create a new copy of the document. If you see the file format line in the screen shot, it says "PowerPoint Presentation".
