another ? about VLC & wma

I tried to open an email with a wma file. My computer is using parallel with windows 7. It tried to open windows when I clicked on the wma file. I researched around and found I needed VLC app to open wma on a mac. Now when I click on a wma file, it still tries to open windows. My question is how do I get mac to try to use VLC first instead of a windows program? I am wanting VLC to automatically open and open the file. I have not found a setting for this. I appreciate all the help this forum has given me as I try to get use to mac and get it set up to work the way I want. So please remember if you answer me that I am a newbie to Mac. Thx

how do I get mac to try to use VLC first instead of a windows program?

1. Right-click on a .wma file in Finder
2. Click "Get Info"
3. Under "Open with", select VLC
4. Click "Change All"
