Before i get flamed this is not a thread about unlocking

I was wondering, aside from the blocking the unlocking tools working, what are the advantages of changing the iphones baseband? I mean does 05.12.01 give a more reliable signal over the original 3Gs 01.45.00 or faster startup connection?

I have 05.12.01 officially unlocked from o2 so was just curious.

There are no real advantages of a newer baseband, so people like to preserve the version with the most reliable unlock hack.

You cannot change an iphones baseband, aside from a small number of 3G iPhones that are compatible with fuzzyband.
