I have a quad i7 iMac (mid 2009) running 10.8.4 with 12GB RAM. I bought a an OEM copy of Win7SP1 HP 64 bit, and went about installing Bootcamp. The assistant grabbed the latest version (5), partitioned the drive (I gave it 300G), and fired up the windows installer from the DVD. Everything went fine and I had windows up and running in no time. I actually stopped at this point (no BC driver install), installed some software and got Parallels up and running too.
After my daughter tried running a game, I realized there was no sound. So, i ran the bootcamp installer. Upon restart an immediate BSOD.
After much poking around in forums it seemed the solution was to nuke the Apple MNT & HFS drivers, but I need some help here.
Rebooting windows in Safe Mode with no external drives connected still loads these drivers, so I can''t touch them
From the MAC side I can see them but can't modify as the Bootcamp Volume is read only, even when I log in as root.
Can someone please:
a: confirm this fix will work
b: give me some help on how to actually get at the drivers in question
I have also reverted windows to a point just before bootcamp and installed the latest Realtek drivers but it doesn't help.
All I want is Windows with sound!
Thanks,
Ken
