iPod touch another case of the itunes-ipod

hey, cheers for checking this. a while ago i completly messed up my computer, it wouldn't start up, and when it was fixed (i think my dad installed the same os on it) it stopped recognising my ipod. i looked on the apple website, and what they have doesn't help. iphoto and the computer recognises it (i used system profiler or something like that that allows you to check the stuff plugged in to the usb ports or whatever). but it wont show up on itunes. its the same itunes, it has my library and apps, and the same stuff. help!?!
