What I have done is found a way to more easily modify (imo) the heatainks from the previous revision to replace the LCS on the G5 Quad.

On first glance, you may notice the notches running down the heatsinks are not lined up properly, as I have nounted the heatainks backwards!

I had to remove two black plastic mounting studs and install the CPU board 180° to the heatsink. Two things needed to make this work:

1. An adaptor at the rear to tension down and extend the screw placement, as the heataink sits a little further forward.

2. A dremel grinding/polishing bit. All I needed was one small notch to compensate for the new orientation; took about 3min and keeps the heatsink almost fully intact for reuse.

Other than that, you'll notice a few screws are missing from the CPU boards mini-heataink. This heatsink is glued on pretty firmly and I am actually suprised by how close the tolerances are this way.

I eyeballed everything so if anyones interested I can whip up some measurements and answer questions.

(P.S.: I got this idea from a Mr someone posting on this topic recently so thanks to them, and just discovered this while tinkering and couldn't find any similar approaches)

This is very impressive! In my own test I concluded that heatskink with 2 heatpipe were not enough to dissipate the heat from a dual core 2.5 board. But I see you proved my wrong ahah. Are these hs sourced from a 2004 powermac ? Anyhow very nice build man 👍👍👍
