If they are deleting your comments then (to me) it means they just want to be right and they see you as challenging their assessment.

I don't watch these videos mainly because they all seem to be biased in some way. The posters have an agenda and won't let anything get in the way of that. They have followers after all and being wrong makes them look bad.

I think you're right.

I try not to comment anymore for those reasons but I always think about people who watch and do want to find answers on how to improve things.

They'll have to figure out where to find actual help. :) I try not to give a hoot about what some random toober says...
I grew up in an era where you had those "As seen on TV" blurbs everywhere. My generation (for the most part) does not trust anything seen on TV. You can make it look any way you want.

I've always seen YT videos in the same way. And unless it's blatantly political, lies or half-truths for the most part are missed by whomever is responsible for standards. Unfortunately, where I question most things, later generations seem to trust YT.

So I get @Dronecatcher's concern. But you are correct, they will have to find a different source. Engaging these influencers is a losing battle.

YouTube is a lot like a magazine or the news in that blindly trusting one source is probably not a good idea. Usually if I'm checking something out, particularly opinions or reviews, I'll check out between three and five or more independent viewpoints to form an opinion. Which is uncommon nowadays surprisingly.

If this YT guy doesn't recommend the Quad then I want his Quad I'll use it better than him.

I don't really see trust being an issue on demo/how to videos, as generally people go to all that effort to share knowledge - knowledge that is literally open to be disproved and discredited.

I don't think this Youtuber set out to deceive anyone - after all, setting up a Quad without the niche knowhow we have here will give those bland results.

However not wanting to improve the situation and further his experience with PPC is odd.

it reminds me of when 8 bit guy (or ibook guy back then) did a video on the g5 quad in 2015, and he was using the g4 7450 optimized tenfourfox, and then complaining about how god awful slow it was. i was like, do you not understand how compile time optimization works? lol

If that's the one I'm thinking of it was obviously a wrecked Quad - the fans were full blast all the time.

yes, it was. the lcs had probably already started to corrode the board, which was also part of the reason it was so slow most likely (alongside using the wrong TFF build)

my quad on the other hand: yes, it runs very hot, and makes some noise, but its not any louder than my modern amd ryzen pc

A pending debt for me is to have my own PPC YouTube Channel, but due to work and my current life I do not have enough time to do it. there is no content in Spanish for PowerPC Macs, so hopefully I'll be able to fill that gap.. but in about some months from now :)
I've wanted to do the same too, along with other old computers I have lying around. Sadly the only good camera I have was an iphone 8 and the camera broke on it :(

So this Youtuber seems to think.

I've commented from 2 different accounts with advice on how to improve things but my comments are deleted...seems ignorance is bliss :(

This will be a fun one to watch for sure. I'm sure the comments will light up somewhat as more PowerPC enthusiasts run into it. There is a lot of information that is glossed over or missing but hopefully OP can recover, learn from comments, and make future videos about his quad, addressing those additional topics ie: repair, maintenance & recalibration, alternative OSs, & alternative Leopard/sorbet software currently in development. If anything, that would serve average folks who get one or are thinking about it in understanding the neediness of this particular machine by seeing his documented quad path.

It is unfortunate that he nuked your responses however. That is gauche as heck - just in poor taste.

It is odd - he says he loves his Quad and agrees with a commenter that it's a shame it can't be more functional in 2022 - yet didn't want any insight into improving things?

Having said that, there are a few dissenting voices in the comment section now so he may come round.

I don't blame him for not knowing as much about PowerPC Macs as the typical elite user of this forum. Plus he has a very calming voice. 😌

YouTube comments can behave weird, if I'm not mistaken sometimes they'll get stuck in a spam filter and have to be manually approved in order to show up for other users. I don't like the comment system on there.

That is possible although there was nothing remotely spam like, antagonistic or offensive in my comments.

When I upload videos I allows select, "Allow all comments."

Aw dang, this reviewer lost me at the moment when he inserted the extremely milquetoast… River of Dreams into the iMac. 🤦‍♀️
