mplayer OSX 1.0 rc
this is the famouse mplayer under linux's mac OSX version, it has both PPC and intel version. Mplayer OSX has essentially same codec as VLC, since they are using same GPL codec project (which means it supports WMV just as VLC 0.8.6), but Mplayer OSX has better performance, from my experience, there are some videos with 9bps rate (lol) VLC can't handle, while Player OSX works fine.

lol, i only watched my friend playing ff8 before... they always making amazing cgs.

and why do you consider this amazing?

sry, we got a little bit off topic. "amazing" wasn't referring to the player

the good thing about this player are
1. play some file vlc cant
2. smaller system resource consumption

thx for the tip. will download it and see if it can compete with VLC.

EDIT: no more VLC! MPlayer seems to do a way better job!

EDIT II: VLC is back. MPlayer has too many issues. Playlist doesn't work, and some other essential stuff.

Strange, I found VLC to have a greater range of playable files. I haven't used MPlayer in a while, though. I like how the most recent VLC can play WMV (or was it that i added more codecs...)

Mmmm, yeah, MPlayer is nice. And that moment when Cloud came riding down the staircase in the Shinra building on the big motorcycle was a classic. :D

you think its bad enough that you can remember that simply by looking at the screenshot, I went as far as to have the buster sword tattoo'd on my arm :D

as far as mplayer goes, I used it all the time on linux (altho I will always be partial to xine) and was never disappointed

mplayer is a nice app, but not my favorite thats for sure. for some reason everytime i open up a file its kinda freezes up and runs really slow and then has issues closing...so i dont use it very often.
