I have a second imac here I decided to upgrade. Mid 2010 27". I took out the optical drive and replaced it with a SSD. I peeled the small sensor that was stuck on the superdrive and stuck it on the SSD and left the 1TB as is. Now, the HDD fan runs about 1/2 throttle, but shows 0 RPM on any fan monitoring apps. I have tried a different sensor cable as well with no change. The ODD fan seems to be working fine blowing over the SSD, but for some reason the original HDD cooling system decided to take a crap somewhere. I extended that sensor wire and closed it up to monitor it while running. Should there be any type of voltage on the sensor cable when running can someone tell me? I checked and there is nothing. Problem on the mainboard? Also, with the optical drive gone and only the small SD in there, would there be enough airflow to possibly disconnect the middle fan if it's uncontrollable, or is there damage potential there?
