Ok, I need to find out some information for my brother, so here goes:

Right now, he and his wife have service with ATT. He is not eligible to buy an iPhone 3G b/c he is still in the middle of a contract with another subsidized phone. His wife IS eligible for an upgrade, though.

Is it possible (and if so, what is the best way) for him to use her account to get the iPhone 3G upgrade and transfer it along with the data plan to his #? Can she just keep using her existing phone?

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I know that on Verizon, when a number on your plan is eligible for an upgrade.. we get the 2 year agreement price.. then change that phone to someone elses number. So, you should be able to do it on ATT.

They are on the same plan, same account right? If so then the wife should be able to get the iphone and have it activated on her number for him to use. Using her eligibility to upgrade.. That should work, but I'd call AT&T or stop in there to verify and I wouldn't do this at an Apple store just incase they give them a hard time..

He wants to keep his existing number.
