Can anyone recommend a good, basic LCD monitor to use with the Mini that meets these criteria?

Must be:

A name-brand
Less than $300
17" or greater
consistent with Apple design/appearance

Should be:

DVI (VGA ok if necessary)
no built in audio (won't be using it)
available from a reputable retailer

[edit: Oops, sorry, meant to post to Buyer's Guide forum]

Thanks!

Thanks!

goodluck, formac has a 19 inch for $599, thats the best youre gonna get. Every other company's LCD look so PCish.

My Gateway 18" FPD has a silver & black case to it which matches my Apple Pro Keyboard nicely. That's what I'll be using.

Gateway currently lists their 17" LCD for $350 and the 19" for $450.

I plan on using a 19" Samsung LCD monitor my parents got me for Christmas to hook up to the Mac Mini when it comes. After a rebate in only cost $359.

DVI monitors -- inherently expensive?

All of the reasonably-priced LCD monitors I've looked at appear to be analog (VGA) -- is this par for the course? Is there no such thing as a low-cost DVI monitor?

I guess a more important question would be: using, say, a 17" LCD monitor with a Mac Mini, would DVI be that much better than analog, and how much should I expect to pay for the improvement (if any)?

I just ordered this one. $219 after rebate. Good reviews.

I checked around, and not only did this monitor have consistent good reviews, but Newegg seems to have the best price by at least $10 after rebate. Pretty good deal for a DVI monitor! I've got one one the way too. I'll test drive it via VGA with my iBook until I get my Mini.

Thanks!

Mine is scheduled to be delivered today! I'll have it hooked up to my G5 until my mini arrives.

Make sure you follow the instructions perfectly for the rebate. I hear Princeton can be picky. I'm mailing mine with some sort of delivery confirmation.

New Egg is great. You should get yours very soon.
