So I *finally* pulled the trigger today and bought a stock 2.66 Mac Pro today.

Now I need to upgrade the ram so I want to add 4GB (2x2GB).

After extensive research, I decided on either OWC or Crucial. Earlier this week the Crucial Ram was $399.

Now today of course, Crucial ram is $469 for same ram.

They have 2 types of ram that appear to be compatible

4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory module

part: CT579443 - $469
part: CT2KIT25672AF667 - $449

They both appear to support Mac Pro, but the more expensive version is the one you get when you use the configure tool.

There is also the 2 OWC ram variants, both of which are (now) cheaper than the crucial ram. I have read quite a few posts regarding OWC ram having issues, so I'd like to go with Crucial, but the sudden price jump makes the choice a little harder. Perhaps the OWC netlists...

Anyone with experience are to let me know if the 2 crucial kits are the same, different etc?

Experience with the OWC/Crucial appreciated.

thanks

Anyone have any idea as to why the Crucial Ram price jumped from $399 to $469? Thats a big jump.

Also curious as to whether the slightly cheaper crucial ram works ok in MPs
