I'd like to get a 13", 1.86Ghz MacBook Air with 4MB Ram

Why?
  • it's so light and I commute, sometimes standing up on the train
  • the 1440x900 screen resolution (MBP only 1280x800...why?!!)
  • the SSD makes it very sappy. "Instant on" and all that
  • and, I have to confess...it's a thing of beauty

I would use it definitely for...
  • light development (Ruby/Rails/RadRails, Java/Eclipse IDE)
  • recording acoustic guitar song on GarageBand
  • making videos of my songs for YouTube
  • browsing
  • reading ebooks
  • light MS Office stuff

I may end up using it recording on Logic Pro, but no time soon

My questions are:
  1. Will I likely have the power/speed I need? From what I've read, in many situations, the SSD makes up for the slower processors (comparing with 2.3GHz i5 on the 13" Pro). The most intensive things I see myself doing would be running Eclipse and recording/mixing
  2. Would an MBA go the distance? (No plans to replace for another 4+ years.)
  3. What is video quality like on the MBA (using built in camera) - the new MBP has HD

Thanks!
