I've got the dreaded flickering screen problem on my Macbook Unibody 2008.

There are many posts describing the problem and usually it's caused by a faulty screen panel. I'm sure that replacing the panel would solve my problems because the computer is working perfectly with an external monitor.
But I don't want to do that because throwing away a possibly fixable panel seems like a waste.

So here's the question - does anyone know what exactly causes the problem? Is it a failing soldering point somewhere near the LVDS cable connector? I think so because applying pressure near the bottom half of the screen solves the problem for a few seconds.
Has anyone managed to fix the faulty panel instead of replacing it?

My panel model no. is LP133WX2-TLC1

Thank you!
