A nearby neighbor has obviously set up a new wireless network in my area. Unfortunately I can see the name of the network in my Airport menu. It is an open network encrypted with a WEP key (I cant join it ;)) but I just don't want it in MY Airport menu.

Does anyone else see neighbors WLAN's in their menu? Or is there a way I can block them?

I am using WPA personal closed network so there is slim chance they can see mine....

I can get my neighbor's wireless network, too. I don't think there's anyway to block it (I could be wrong!).

They also have WEP on it. If I get bored, trying to get into it turns into a fun game of "guess the password"

:p

Using my wife's Dell 700m, which gets better Wifi range than my Powerbook, three unprotected neighbor networks are within range. I don't connect to any of them, but I sometimes wonder which belongs to whom.

yeah - I've already tried that :D.

I will be keeping an eye on the Airport Management Utility though... Just to see that they haven't 'cracked' mine....

Wanna swap neighbors for a while... just at the end of the month when my ISP limits my d/l speed.... ;)?

Just proves how much technology is around us these days.
