Probably another bad question...

I leave for Basic training in a month, when I get to tech school my wife is going to buy a mac book and send it to me. Does iChat cost anything. It looked like we need .mac accounts, right? How much are those?

Sorry for the dumb questions, we're really new to macs...but we are now in love.

iChat is included with every mac for free. You don't need .mac accounts to use iChat, you can also use AIM accounts, which are free.
