I'm prepping my 3GS for selling. I just did:

1) Erase all content and settings.
2) Then I put it in DFU mode, and restored to 3.1.3 (the only SHSH I have on file).
3) Then I jailbroke with spirit.
4) Then I ran the spirit2pwn hack.
5) Then I restored to a custom pwned 4.0 firmware.
6) Then when it was done, the iphone screen says "iPhone is now activated", and on the computer I was at the screen to set up as a new phone or restore from backup.
7) I do neither of those things and then unplug the phone from the computer. Loaded up cydia and installed ultrasn0w.
8) Rebooted the device.
9) On the iPhone, went into settings -> General -> Store, and logged out of my iTunes account. (Don't know why it was even logged into that)

Am I all set to sell it? And how had it gotten logged into my iTunes if I never set up the phone? Maybe when it "activated" it does?

Ugg !

Another thread to add to the 30 or so existing threads on this topic.

I guess that reading comprehension is just down the toilet on this site

Is that a yes or a no? And what's the deal with it being logged into my iTunes account if I never went in to set it up at new, etc.

Looks good.
Hope u got some good money for it.

Ty...putting it up tonight or tomorrow. Wanted to wait until I got the iPhone 4 so that I could restore/activate my 3GS and then immediately transition over.

I mean if I had already switched to iPhone 4, my old sim in the 3GS would not have allowed the phone to activate, correct?

(I don't really understand the "activating" business)
