Hey guys,

2006 macbook pro (2.3ghz/10.5.8),

Bought a new western digital 500GB HD (travelstar 7200rpm SATA3) to replace the 200GB samsung HD. I hooked it up externally thru a usb adapter, then cloned my old drive onto it. it looked fine, til I installed it. Would not boot at all, so I booted thru my old drive by usb. disc utility says the new drive is an unformatted MBR drive (later when plugged usb, its a GUID/HFS+ ext/journaled drive with an exact copy of my working drive on it).
I asked Fry's about SATA3 compatibility issues , they said its all backwards compatible. can't find answers on the forums, thought I'd pick your brain. btw, there's no jumpers to set for downspeed on the new drive.
Any solutions/ideas?

thx for any advice. :)
