Another torrent/mac question!

I am new to Macs (obviously!) and this forum (hello everyone!) and I would be extremely grateful if someone could help with a problem which I cant seem to find a well-explained solution for!

I have downloaded Transmission after hearing it was the best for Macs. I am currently able to download with no problems from IPTorrents, however any time I try and use other torrent sites that I used to use on my PC (such as TPB) they dont seem to want to download, or even get started.

From what I've read, I think it may be to do with ports etc on my wireless router (netgear).

Is anyone able to give me a simple step-by-step guide to do this as I haven't got a clue! Thanks

Try the MAGNET LINK, symbolised by the following icon.

What does Transmission > View > Torrent Inspector (CMD+I) say under Activity and Trackers?

I use Vuze on the odd occasion that I need a torrent. It's worked everytime so far.

I find vuze to be slow and bloated.


OP, you can also try uTorrent, it's very similar to Transmission. if you have the same problems there it might be a firewall/router issue that needs to be addressed.

trying magnet links is worthwhile as well.

I tried uTorrent, but couldn't customise the interface to my minimalistic liking.

Note - all the torrents in the illustration were downloaded for the sole purpose of demonstrating the above comment. All torrents were deleted after uploading the screenshot.

I don't know. You can change the view of it, but I don't mess around with it

Hi, you guys using uTorrent are you using the new 1.0 version? Any tests against Transmission ?
