My office a group was discussing the Ultra and mentioned the audible could also be used in urban and suburban areas as an alert for help. Several of my employees live in downtown DC dealing with certain types of men in the evening. They could trigger the audible and deter unwanted people and attract attention.

Thought this was an excellent use for the alarm. The specs state it's heard from almost 200 meters away. That's half a track lap which is fairly far. Interesting use.

I wonder what the alarm sounds like. Coming from a small speaker, I feel like it’ll only be audible long distances out in the wilderness, where it’s quiet. I don’t think it’ll travel as far in a noisy city environment.

People are more likely to track down the source of an alarm out in the wilderness…because it shouldn’t be there, and no one else is around. People would probably just dismiss it in a city, not knowing what it is, or think someone else will check it out. If you’re being robbed or mugged, screaming would get people’s attention quicker, and can travel farther. Or depending on the situation, it may be better to not attract attention and discreetly slide the Emergency SOS slider.

How many us actually try to find the car with its alarm going off to see if it’s being robbed, or to see if someone is having an emergency and needs help?
