Sorry everyone, I just don't have as much time as I used to to research these things so I'm looking for some quick assistance.

I'm going to buy a 15" MBP retina as an upgrade to my mid-2010 model with the 2.4 i5. I am a hobby photographer and am really looking forward to the upgraded screen and processing power for photo merges and editing. I also dabble a bit with video editing with the very heavy DSLR files.

What is going to get me the most bang for the buck? Obviously the high end 2.3 i7 with 16gb RAM and the separate video card would be best. But can I get away with the 2.0, or even upgrading to the 2.3 and 16gb on the model without separate graphics? Or could I get away with buying last years model used and still see a nice performance boost?

Two questions, how much help is the 16gb of RAM and how much help is the additional graphics for what I'll be doing?

I don't play games so that's not a consideration for me, but I do watch videos.
