I've had every iPhone except the 4S. I dealt with all the antenna issues with the iPhone 4 for two years mostly by keeping a case on it, but often just with using a Best Skins Ever shield on it.
I've noticed that my iPhone 5 appears to have some antenna issues. I can't duplicate them on command, unfortunately. What I've noticed is I'll be using my phone in a spot with full bars LTE coverage and then suddenly without warning it will completely lose signal and sit there without any signal for a few minutes. Often when this happens I'll put the phone down and magically it will return to signal.
Also, I will frequently just lose LTE. Right now, for example, the phone is sitting on my desk with full bars at "4G", not LTE. Meanwhile, my colleague's phone is sitting next to it, also on AT&T, has LTE without issue. In the time it has taken me to type this post, my phone has not connected to LTE. I now restart my phone and it has LTE without issue.
What's the deal? Does anyone else have similar problems? Sure it could be defective, but this would be an odd defect. You'd think the antenna would be a works/doesn't work type issue. And the fact that I cannot reproduce on command makes it tough.
