Hi,
My new Mac Mini sits on a wooden shelf on my desk and it tends to slide about when I power it on or plug anything in. Any suggestions for an anti-slip may for the mini to sit on? I’m using an old crappy mouse mat that looks bad but is kinda doing the job.

cheers

I bought some self-sticking rubber feet and put them on the bottom of my Mini. Any sort would be fine.

Awesome thanks I think I have some sticky feet somewhere. Do you stick them on the round black plastic cover?

I'd put them on the corners of the case. The plastic cover gets warm and could degrade the glue. You might have to stack a few of the feet to make them tall enough to hold the whole Mini up, depending on the thickness of the feet.

I put mine on the plastic cover and have never had a problem (and I did this on 2012 Minis so it's been years.)

I use some of the textured shelf liner, the flexy, textured kind that comes in a roll (it's cheap!). I use that for all kinds of things that need a little extra "friction", or other uses, like that noisy 8TB external drive that I use for all kinds of backups. It sits on a strip of that shelf "paper", so I never hear it rumbling away. It's multi-use stuff, just cut to your needs.
My mini sits on a piece of that. It doesn't move unless I choose to move it.

I have one of these with no space on the bottom. Hugs pretty tight. But never had heat issues. Fits 2010, 11, 14, and 18, 20 models.

The nucube is good protection but its not anti slip. So I got this tray. Small version. I keep the mini inside and grab the handle when I press the power button. No more slide. The wires stick out the back. If not I drill the sides of the handle a little out to the sides.

Just bought an M2 Mac Mini, found this from OWC which is anti-slip matt specifically designed for the minis. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/NUPDBASEMM/

I also have one of these cubes and its pretty good.

Or what you can do if you are using a monitor and not a TV is get one of these.

Look at the second pic and video. It will hide in the back of the monitor and save space. And no slipping. And use the shelf for something else.
