I know it's a bit early to ask this but I've been digging Anker's GAN II nano 65W chargers. I have 3 of them now and I charge everything with them. The M1 iPad Pro and iPhone 13 charge insanely fast with them even though I know that the iPhone can't take advantage of the full wattage available. They're also very small.

The Anker 65W Nano II is about 1/8 the size of Apple's 140 Watt charger for the 16"

Is there anything on the market now that uses the new GAN II standard that has 140 watts charging via USB-C? I know I can run a GAN 100W charger and it'll be fine on the MBP with some discharge but I'd like to find a full-speed option. Can't find anything from Anker yet or on Amazon.

140w charger isn't a thing yet. Why? Since Apple is one of the first that I've seen using the new PD 3.1 which allows more than 100w of power delivery. That's also why the type c ports are limited to 100w since it's not supporting the new standards.

Ah, I didn't realize that +100W was requiring a totally new standard. That makes sense why Amazon seems littered with 100W chargers but that's it. I know I could get by with a 100W charger when traveling but didn't want to alternatively spend $100 on a huge Apple charger for a 2nd travel option.

Guess over time, there will be cheaper alternatives.

Definitely. But. If I'm being honest. If you're just charging the laptop without stressing it at the same time. 100w is enough. Since most of the time it's charging at a 100w speed even when using the 140w charger. I think it only uses 140w on the first part of the charging process

And type UBC C will only go over 60 W with E-marked (chipped) cables.
Yep. For c to c cables that supports the new PD 3.1 i think it needs to be kinda different in the connectors part. Backwards compatible of course but I think it needs to be made a specific way to handle higher voltages since we have more chance of arcing

Very helpful. Thank you all!

I think it's only fair that I just do a 100W GAN II charger and call it a day. I will, at times, tax the machine with a large Lightroom import or HEVC 4K to ProRes conversion but I'll be in a hotel room / camp ground and be plugged in so I'll discharge slightly while that process runs but will easily recharge when the clock speed goes back to normal again. That's a fair trade-off for running a much smaller power brick when traveling.

Yep! Should be pretty fine I think :D
