I seriously doubt there will be a 5.5 inch iPhone released in 2014 year.

Usually takes Apple 18 months to release a product from start to finish.

We started hearing about 4.7-4.8 inch iPhone months before the iPhone 5S release date. And obviously the 4.7 inch iphone wasn't released in 2013 but Apple surely was testing the 4.7 inch iphone in 2013.

Same with the 5.5 inch "leaks". Apple is probably testing it. But I believe there will only be one "new" model and that's the 4.7 inch.

Why would Apple want to cannibalize their own sales by releasing two "new" products at the same time.

And no. I do not consider the iphone 5c (aka iPhone 5 with cheaper made parts and a slightly upgraded front camera and more LTE band). I do not consider the iphone 5C a "new" phone.

Huge assumption but perhaps they started on the 4.7 cause that's what they'll produce more of - 5.5 could be leaked after 4.7 has made a good stock pile

Wasn't there a photo showing some 5.5" screens a few weeks ago? Anyway don't expect Apple to release an iPhone this big, ever.

You don't think that Apple will release it at all?

Oh they will. Just not this year, it'll be in 2015.

This I agree with. I think the 4.7" is coming in September and the 5.5" will be here next year sometime. I also think iphone lineup will be simple this year. It will be the iPhone 6, 5s and 5c with the 4s discontinued.

Seems like every leaked part so far is a 4.7" part.

I'm sure if there are any 5.5 leaks, it will be posted on the home page.

If those photos are real it only shows that Apple is working on a device with a 5.5" inch screen. It could be a phone but more than likely, if it's real, it would be something else, like an iPad Nano, or something completely new. Or they could be just prototypes for something we'll never see.

The only phone parts we have seen are the glass front and casing for an alleged 4.7" iPhone.

One thing is for sure. All the prognosticators come out near a release, and in most cases are 100% wrong.

The assumption above is that the 4.7 and 5.5 are the same price hence cannibalizing would be true. I doubt they would be.

Tom Cook as said they'd rather cannibalise there own products rather than someone else. I can see them releasing two sizes with a small premium for the larger screen.

I don't see apple releasing two new phones in one year. They will always save something for next year. The 4.7 in is a big increase in size for those used to the 4in.

Didn't the 5S and 5C get released the same year?

Nope because Apple is still figuring out how to shave off some of those ugly bottom and top bezels

It isn't really two phones, it's the same phone in two different sizes. I'd imagine the 4" will still he the 'hero' phone. The 4.7" will be an option for people who want the larger screen.

I can see Apple releasing 2 different sized phones just to surprise people. The release schedule has been fairly predictable so it might make sense to shake things up.

There has only been talk, and just cause there is a talk doesn't mean it is going to happen, there was talk of a Verizon iPhone in 2007 and it didn't happen till 2011. There was talk of an iPhone nano and that never happened.

Could be similar to the iPad Mini, which was handled by Foxconn Brazil instead of Foxconn China, which is why iPad Mini part leaks were very slim.

I'm willing to bet Foxconn China will be wall to wall making 4.7" models. We already know Apple ordered 68 million. So Foxconn Brazil will probably be handling the first few batches until China can catch up.

68 million. Holy crap.

I really don't see a 5.5" iPhone happening. I mean maybe I'm wrong, there could be market for such a thing, more profits to made, bigger market share etc. But Apple is the company that puts design and usability first. They don't make things because it's what people want, because there is a market.
