Any advances in printing I iPadOS 26?

Hello, when Apple tries to make iPad desktop like device, is there any news about printing? Is there chance iPad will have same capabilities as Mac to connect to any printer in network or usb printer attached to airport? Or it is just something beyond Apple's resolution?

What I’d like to see is USB printing rather than AirPrint alone. That way I could eke a few more years out of my HP LaserJet 1200 after my laptop dies 👍

I used an old raspberry pi connected to my printer to make it “wireless” and work with AirPrint.

It was pretty easy and worth the time so I can print from iOS devices
