I was wondering if there was any advantage in having matched pairs of RAM in this Late 2005 Dual 2.0GHZ G5. It's about $15 cheaper to buy a single 2GB PC4200 DDR 553MHZ Stick than 2x1GB Sticks.

This machine is going to be used for Digital Performer 7.x.

Also
From understanding the latest DP 7.x is still 32-bit therefore can only use 2 GB of RAM so I was thinking of toping this out at 3.5GB rather than 5.5 GB because if there aren't many apps running in the background, then there won't be any difference? Is this correct?

EDIT

The RAM has to be installed in matched pairs
