Is it possible that both sets of rumors are true but for different products? We don't know if Apple plans on releasing the GSM & CDMA iPhones simultaneously so maybe the Fall rumor is for the GSM version and the Q1 2012 rumor is for the CDMA one. Possible?

anything is possible. I'm not seeing any advantage for them to stagger releases of gsm vs cdma.
Me thinks it would serve Apple to have all the versions available at once. Heck, even a dual mode world phone makes the most sense. Cut down on the total number of SKUs the stores have to carry, cut down on the confusion regarding cases and other accessories.
But really, who knows? It's all just pointless speculation at this point.
