I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 24" ACD (refurb), but I'd be terribly disappointed if I bought one now and then Apple announces new ones in two weeks. For those that have been following Apple much longer than I have - would they introduce something like this at their September event?

No. The 24" will be around for four years if history is any indicator.
September is iPod month, end of story. A 30" display that only 1% of anyone could afford has no place at the iPod conference.
