Just bought a 13" base model rMBP and am wanting to exchange for the new model with 8gb RAM. Bought from Best Buy, and I have another $100 off EDU coupon but it ends this weekend. Any clue when Best Buy will receive the new ones?

Well that stinks. The $100 off EDU coupon ends Saturday unless they give out another one. I do still have my 10% off movers coupon. Not sure if I'll return my rMBP or try to sell it (I've had a lot of returns/exchanges, not sure if they'd do more).

If you haven't been given a warning, you are fine lol. They have a limit but it's really high.

I would imagine a few days. My local Apple store doesn't even have them yet and didn't have an ETA. Not that I would expect an Apple employee to actually know that.

Good deal. To be fair, 2 of my exchanges were because of defects (one software, one cosmetic). I read that it doesn't matter if they are exchanges or returns due to defect, they are counted the same. Adding in the value of Macbooks, it made me worry.

I would expect them within 1 week. I'm hoping for a clearance deal on the old ones!

Dang, the '13 is only $1099, and of course the '14 is $1299. Wonder if that speed bump and 4gb RAM increase is worth $200? I imagine the resale value alone is worth it. I have a $100 off EDU coupon and 10% off. Not sure if I'll buy from Bestbuy or go straight to Apple and get it for $1199 + $100 gift card, then use my 5% cash back card. What do you guys think? May not be able to use the EDU coupon as it expires saturday

I'm in the same boat. Tax free weekend is coming in a few days which means I could save almost another 100 (plus the 100 student discount). I'm not seeing much difference in the 2014 model 13 inch rMBP except the ram and processor speed bump so I may just wait till Friday and pick one up.

I have the 2013 base model (4/128) and I love it. Unless you are going to be running VM's, or doing medium to heavy photo or video editing, the 4GB of ram is more than enough. In fact. I have to have over 10 programs running, with about 25+browser tabs before my memory pressure changes from green. The .02GHZ speed bump will never be noticeable. If I were you, I would just decide based on ram.

As you mentioned, you can get the 2013 base model for 899 plus tax. 1099-100EDU-99.90(10 percent)=899 plus tax. That's a really good deal. I was in a similar situation to you. I could have gotten the 8/256 model for about 250 more, but decided that it really wasn't worth it to me.

In the end, it's all up to you. I definitely think the 2013 models are a better buy regardless of where you get it from.

How about UK stores like PC World how long is it after a new product is released before they start appearing in stores and online?
