Well I go through all the steps and it says I have to pay $599 for the 16GB iPhone when most people only pay $399. It says I could do a standard upgrade on 11/21/09. Also, I have owned both iPhone 2g and currently the 3g. I would like to get the 3gs but I dont get why I can't pay $399. Any tips/help would be appreciated.

They probably drop to the $399 price after a year, which for any 3G owner would be in early July. That's my best guess.

How much did you pay for your 3G last year? If AT&T subsidized the price, then they want to hold you to your service contract on that device.

At least two reasons that you may be seeing this pricing.

1). You have a balance due on your account
2). You just recently purchased a subsized phone from AT&T

When did you purchase your last phone from AT&T and is your billing current?

I purchased it in November and my billing is automatic payments so I'm never late on that.
