Any developers with tethering?

Thinking of getting rid of my 3g modem and using tethering on my iphone instead. Question is, if I am using tethering and I tell xcode to debug my app on my iphone, what happens? Does it all work normally? Is there an extra bar across the top like when you are on the phone? Anyone with any experience here, or the ability to try this for me? Thanks.
