Hi

As everyone is stating the new iPad is taking a fair amount of time to charge but I want to know if there is a difference between using the iPhone wall plug or the larger iPad wall plug?

For my iPad 1 I have always used the smaller iPhone plug and never noticed a problem but obviously this may have been due to not such a large battery?

Yes, the iPhone charger is 1 amp, the iPad charger is 2.1 amps. The iPhone charger will charge the iPad but will take twice as long. Standard USB ports (and a lot of third party chargers) supply 500 milliamps and will take fours times as long to charge the iPad.

There is no harm done by using any of these charging methods, the time will just vary.

Edit: One thing to take note of, the new iPad consumes close to 1 amp while the display is on, so if you're using it while connected to an iPhone charger the charge will increase very slowly.
