Hi,

Looking to get a Mac that will be used primarily at an office in clamshell mode. I am debating between a 14" Macbook Pro (either M1 or M2) or just getting a Mac Mini. It will be used primarily in clamshell mode plugged into a monitor with a keyboard/mouse. Obviously, the MBP would have the versatility of being able to be taken on the go to different locations when needed whereas the Mac Mini would not.

However, how is the usability of the MBP at a desktop compared to a Mac Mini? When plugged in to a monitor, does the MBP tend to just "work" or do you find you have to constantly play with settings? Also, if I got a Apple Keyboard/Mouse would the MBP instantly recognize them when brought back in proximity or would you have to manually connect?

Thanks!

Worked fine for me. To re-start the MBP of course you need to open back up and once you shut the signal goes to the attached monitor.
AFAIK, all the MBP models vent through the keyboard. I used an app to monitor and even control the fan speed and thus the temperature.

As to keyboard/mouse if they are bluetooth and the MBP is set for them to wake up the machine they should work fine. As to "brought back in proximity" you would have to test for the distance you desire.
