I just got a shiny new 27" iMac, and I am giving my older iMac away to my parents. Before I do that however, I have a lot of stuff to transfer over, including my massive iTunes library.

To transfer this library to the new iMac, I decided to use Home Sharing, as it seemed very simple. Is there any downside to doing it this way?

Worked great for me moving my iTunes library from the iMac to the MBP.

I can never get the cover art and playlists to move over. Everything else moves fine.

You also lose play count and ratings IIRC.

I've used it extensively for migrating video content for which I don't case so much about those.
