Hi,

I have read a number of articles about standardizing on a couple filter sizes, and using step-up rings - e.g. have a 62mm filter set and a 77mm filter set, with step-up rings to bring your lenses up to those diameters. But I'm wondering why you can't just have one set of filters - say 77mm - and use step-up rings on all your lenses to get there? Is there a problem with using a step-up ring that goes from 52mm to 77mm, for example (I picked 52mm because that's the filter size of my 35mm f/2 nikkor).

It doesn't seem like this should adversely affect the functionality of the filter types I'm likely to use (polarizers, neutral density).

Thanks!
