Thanks to all who answered my questions about the differences in Exchange and IMAP for Gmail.

To save battery I like the fetch idea as well as the simultaneous changes between iphone and Gmail. I currently have 2 accounts as IMAP and 1 account as exchange to get the calendar sync.

Someone mentioned a work around to archiving in the "exchange" email in regards to creating a separate folder and moving all the emails I want deleted into that. Once I go in via the web interface I can just delete them from there.

So I was thinking of just setting my (3) Gmail accounts as exchange emails and making them "fetch" instead of "push" in the advanced menu. This now gives me the option to have them as "push" whenever I want instant access to new emails. Does anyone see a downside to this approach? It almost seems the best of all words in regards to saving battery and having an option to "push" or "fetch". The only downside is trying to delete...which actually archives. But the workaround mentioned above seems feasible.

Thanks!
