I'm thinking of getting one of the official Apple 2M lightning cables. Are there any drawbacks to using a longer lightning cable? I can't think of any, but I thought I'd double-check!

(It's only recently I found out that higher watt chargers can have a minor impact on battery life, so I'm wondering if longer cables might have some issue that I didn’t know about).

Thanks in advance for the help!

In theory a longer cable will have less output, but that should only be if you are making the cable yourself and expecting it to be fine without testing. Buying a cable that is rated to handle what it says should be good to go as others have already said just go with a trusted brand

I have a 2 x 2m braided Belkin cables. One for my 5w charger and one for my fast charger. Both are far more robust and superior in every way to the official Apple crap that I had been using for over 6 years.

I've always used decent 5-10m cables, usually Anker, and not had any problems.
Anker cables and chargers are generally what I buy as Christmas gifts every few years. They may not be exciting but they're gifts that get used a lot.
