Hi, has anyone have any experience with SynapTech computer repair?
I have an iMac G5 with a blown logic board (apparently it's the capacitors) and I needed it repaired. SynapTECH is in Eugene Oregon, and although they have a website and are listed on several sites, I have no idea whether they are legit or not, considering there are no customer reviews. Here is the e-mail conversation we had:

I have an iMac G5 with a blown logic board (apparently it's the capacitors) and I needed it repaired. SynapTECH is in Eugene Oregon, and although they have a website and are listed on several sites, I have no idea whether they are legit or not, considering there are no customer reviews. Here is the e-mail conversation we had:
I'm just concerned because it seems kind of shifty to me that they want it in the exact same packaging, and they're already asking me to mail it without having me fill out any paperwork or attach any stickers to it. How will they know it's my computer?>> I brought my iMac G5 (2.0 Ghz) into the Apple Store after the computer crashed several times. It also doesn't reboot many times and almost every application crashes. The technician there told me that the logic board had bulging and leaking capacitors and it appears the logic board is shot. They told me they could repair it for almost $600, but I don't have that kind of money to repair a computer, when I could buy a new one and finance it. I was told that your service department can fix this problem, either replacing the whole logic board or simply replacing the capacitors. If you could do this, I would really appreciate it if you could contact me as soon as possible. My email is ~~ and my phone number is ~~.
>To help both of us fully understand the issue you are dealing with, here is a description and illustration of the defective capacitor problem which affects some early models of the iMac G5 17 inch and 20 product families. Though it is not as common as believed, it is a good idea to inspect your logic board to determine if you might be affected.
This is a problem easily disclosed by a simple inspection of your board, while still mounted in the case. Look for clusters of electrolytic capacitors, each approximately .375 inches in diameter, and about .675 inches tall. Defective units will not exhibit flat tops - rather, they will show distended or bloated tops or cases, and may show leaking electrolytic fluid. The clusters are shown below, circled in orange.
If this is the case with your machine, the logic board can be repaired for $ 189.00, a process in which all affected or potentially affected capacitors are replaced. The procedure is covered by a one-year warranty, and no additional charges apply except for shipping. We suggest that you ship the entire machine to us.
If you are not affected, simply replacing the power supply alone will correct the issue you now see. To be certain which power supply is required, if one is indeed required, we would need the serial number of your machine. It is rare that both a logic board and power supply are defective: it is most commonly a bad power supply, somewhat less likely that you have a logic board affected by the issue, and quite unlikely that you have experienced a failure of both components.
Thank you for your interest in the parts and services offered by SynapTECH.
>> I did make sure that the technician at the Apple Store was telling the truth the capacitors are indeed bulging and some are leaking fluid. I believe, but am not entirely certain, that we already replaced the power supply when it died. I hope that before the computer is sent back out to us, it will be tested for any more problems if the logic board is not the only problem. I appreciate the quick response and will probably call very soon for more details.
