I am an British ex-pat living in Finland and recently purchased an unlocked 4S from the Elisa store.
I was getting the usual panic.plist issue with randomly shutting down and not being able to switch it back on even with a full battery.
The phone is only a week old (purchased outright) so I headed back into the store expecting a new replacement. I was then horrified when I was told that it has to be sent off for repair and that it will take two weeks. No 14 or 30 day grace period here or distant selling acts.
I personally find this dogsh@t customer service and would not tolerate it in the UK as I am aware of my consumer rights. There seems to be an issue with Apple and the mobile providers where the service and repair is NOT handled by Apple but the Carriers instead.
I could not even purchase Apple Care to extend my warrenty on my old iP4 and my only option was to claim on my home insurance or pay up 300 EUR for a refurb if it breaks.
Also there are no official Apple Stores and just copycat versions with same old crap customer support with iPhones.
In the UK, you can just walk into an Apple Store and they will give you a replacement or refurb if faulty. 10 years ago, my Nokia died on me, I called my Carrier 'Orange' who arranged for a courier to deliver a brand new replacement the following day and collect my broken phone.
Any native Finns here that can tell me the actual Sale of Goods Act law here, why no official Apple stores and why the crap customer service with iPhones and what I can do about it?
Many thanks.
