Long story short, my Fire TV Cube always disconnects from the internet when I’m streaming movies or TV shows.

I called amazon and they said it’s a Comcast problem and that I also need to have the Cube within “2.5 feet of the WiFi router.” Huh?! I live in an apartment, my WiFi router is 12 feet from the Cube. How is that not sufficient?

I returned the product and purchased a new one hoping the first would be defective. Same thing.

I’m at a loss. Any advice? Both my echos, which are farther from the WiFi router, work flawlessly.

I'm not a Fire TV Cube owner, but to sounds like an issue with Comcast-supplied routers and the wireless antenna in the Cube. I did some searching, and it seems others occasionally complain about the Cube's antenna. A few purchases that might help:
  • An ethernet to WiFi dongle (plugged into the Cube's ethernet to bypass its wireless, and connected to your WiFi network so your router doesn't reject it).
  • A Raspberry Pi (connected to your router via ethernet and broadcasting its own WiFi network).
  • A separate WiFi access point (connected to your WiFi network and broadcasting one of its own).
