Any fix for the Spotlight not responding to first character flaw?

Hi all,
I know this has been debated before, just wanted to hear, if a fix has come up - since it is soooooo frustrating that Spotlight every second time does not record the first character you type.
What is this? Why can Apple not fix such a basic issue that so many users experience .... sggghhh
