My ipad is running iOS5.1 and i prefer not to upgrade to iOS6 until an official google map is released.
However, itunes shows there is over 4gB of "others" which may make my ipad working slow.

I have tried to "restore from backup" in itunes but didn't help.
I did not "restore" as it would upgrade my ipad to iOS6.
Would the option "reset all contents & settings" in ipad work?
Will it lead to a force upgrade afterwards?

Please help, thanks! :)

I cannot give you a definitive answer without trying it, but it's probably your best chance of resetting without upgrading or jail breaking.

I am waiting as well, but I can't BELIEVE Apple has allowed the update to sit on my phone in the "other" folder. It is bordering on a forced upgrade, something I am not a fan of.

You can reset all content and settings without it asking to be updated. It's only if you do it through iTunes it'll try to update.

I may be wrong but I thought the reset all content and settings buttons was a big no go for jailbroken devices?

When i reset all contents & settings in the ipad,
i expect it will be restore to its factory state (ios5.1)
What if i then plug in the itunes and then restore from backup (also 5.1)?
Will itunes force it to upgrade to ios6?

Oh my bad! That'll teach me to pay more attention to what I'm reading in the future.
