Any FREE basic audio editing software better than Audacity??

Anybody know of any audio editing software that runs better than Audacity...seems to slow my PowerBook G4 down a lot. Preferably freeware. The features of Audacity are enough I'd just like it to run smoother.

If your powerbook runs OS9 and you don't mind switching to OS9 for audio editing, then try Pro Tools Free. There was a thread on that subject here recently so a quick search should get you the info.
