Québécois land! :)
I was interested on getting one for Christmas. I need one that is silver or white (or both:p), is 20 inches or bigger, is Mac compatible and is below $500.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Puma

I have been looking at 24in models, here's my experience so far:

Acer has a nice one that's got hdmi inputs, 2ms response time, and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. I compared it to a Gateway 24in with similar stats and an HP w2408. Of the 3, the HP has a glossy screen and the "worst" stats for response time at 5ms.

I generally dislike all things HP (don't ask why) but I was really impressed by that monitor. Of the 3, it was a standout even though the stats were better on the acer. Color saturation was good on the HP, probably from the glossy screen, and although the contrast ratio is average at 1000:1, the "blacks were blacker" than on the others. It also has a cool feature of being able to rotate 90 degrees to portrait, but I'm not sure how this would work on a mac (anyone with experience??).

So far I'm leaning towards my first choice, the Dell.

btw, i agree the hp monitor has the best look!

I'd say dell is a great choice.
I've read many professional reviews of their monitors and the always get good reviews and the price is just good...I really like the design of them too.

WARNING:
At least w2408h has color adjustments only through windows application.
"Color..."-menu in display's OSD is grayed out...

Samsung

I have two wired to my MacPro.

Model is SyncMaster 940MW

It is a multi mode PC monitor, and is also a multistandard TV, works internationally off all mains votages 110/120/220/240 (50 or 60 Hz)

Bought 1 in US for about $250, bought another in the UK, around £200.

Work fine right out of the box... I have yet to perform the colorsync operation as they are too close to worry about.

Only thing is I think they are 19" (widescreen)

Work flawlessly..... Love 'em! http://images.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have a Samsung 225bw, the 226bw is out now. I'm happy with it but when/if Apple ever updates the ACD I'll probably switch to that.

I have a Gateway FPD2275W and I'm loving it. Purchased it on sale for $319 at the local CompUSA.

Gateway's new 24 inch model is gloosy, just to point out. It has a ton of inputs, importantly DVI,component,HDMI. I might be getting one. It's the FHD2400.
