I've been away in Android land and not sure at what point jailbreaking became illegal but not sure what apple has done to the devices to prevent you from upgrading and then downgrading? etc etc. I mean is this some kind of security measure apple has put in place?

I'm thinking of coming back when the iphone 5 is released and we know there wont be a jailbreak for that for a while I guess but I just thought I'd learn as to why its been such a problem to downgrade from 4.3.4, and moving to a certain baseband could brick your phone. I dont remember all these issues when I use to jailbreak over a year ago.
