Any 42mm guys switching to the new 40mm size? I have smaller wrists so I feel like the old 42mm size was perfect and the new 44mm seems like it might be kinda big. Just curious if anyone has gone from 42mm to 40mm? I believe the actual screen real estate is the same on the 42mm and new 40mm if I am not mistaken.

Think you need to go to a store and try them on and see for yourself. I barely noticed a difference in size looking at them, but mine doesn't arrive until tomorrow to know for sure.

I have 140mm wrists and switched from a 42mm to a 40mm. Very happy.

The watch looks and and feels nicer on my wrist, and the screen did get bigger on the 40mm. I feel like I made no compromises. I can even get more official Apple bands, because only the sport bands fit my wrists before.

The usable screen (display area) on the 40 mm S4 is actually about 3 percent larger than the screen on the 42 mm.

Screen real estate:
42 mm: 740 sq mm
40 mm: 759 sq mm

I switched from 42mm to 40mm. I am crazy about wrist watches and I collect them. All the mechanical watches I have are between 38-41 mm, majority being 40mm. My ideal size for a classic round watch is 38mm, then again the lug-to-lug distance is very important. I switched from 42mm to 40mm so I can use more bands this time, the metal bands with extended lugs didn't look nice on my wrist with the 42mm.

I thought so to. I have small wrists and thoughts the 42 looked a little chunky. But I took the plunge for the 44. It looks great. Maybe because it’s a tad thinner
and I got the space grey instead of silver but I think it looks better. And I’d not give up 1MM of extra space unless it looked bad on my wrist Yes. Try one on at a store if you can. But if you can’t take a risk on the 44 and return if needed.

I downsized and am very happy with it. The 42mm always seemed ever so slightly oversized for me, but the 38mm felt slightly too small.

I'm going from the 42 to the 40mm, and I have larger wrists. I examined both in the store and it was a easy decision for me. The 40 screen size is perfect and the watch will not be as bulky or take up as much real estate on the wrist. I also appreciate the lighter weight versus the 44. The 44 looks nice and I appreciate why it is popular, but not for me personally.
