Has anyone found a program or know of a hack to bring back the old feature of double clicking and opening in a New Finder Window, without having to hold down the command key while double clicking.

I have left IMHO feedback for apple to bring this feature back.

Not happy they took it away from us.

Probably not helpful, but
Command + double click opens in new tab
right click shows open in new tab option as well.

You can drag the new tab into a new window.

hassle.

If you hide the Toolbar (Command-Option-T), double-clicking into folders will open a new window (without a toolbar), with or without holding down the command-key. This replicates the behavior of the 'Classic' Finder.

Show the toolbar to return to 'Browser' type navigation.

Path Finder has a nifty contextual menu command to "Show in New Window." Not double clicking, but close.

I guess I will have to be happy with this, at this point. I hope Apple brings the full functionality back.

I use a Wacom tablet with an assigned shortcut set for the Finder on my stylus - the Finder shortcut of "Option-Right Click" yields the "Open in New Window" command on a folder.
