October - Novemeber timeline is all we really know at this point

hope for some announcement during the iPad/iMac event on the rumored Oct 15th date or during the earnings call.

The next OSX is most likely going to be announced at the next Mac event, in which Apple releases the new Mac Pro and the updated rMBPs.

Thanks for the response guys. How's the latest build holding up? Is it almost close to being a final version/GM?

Overall the latest build is in excellent shape, except for iBooks which is in a miserable state. So, my guess is if iBooks is included upon launch, we aren't yet close to GM, unless they made serious progress in the last two weeks. If iBooks is not included upon launch but only in a later point update, we should be rather close to a GM.

Ah that's sweet, thanks for the update. How are your usage times. Have they increased? How much? cheers.

Loving the extra iOS/OSX integration in Mavericks, but the latest GM is still super buggy. Pressing the power button two times too closely together freezes up the system, pinch to zoom randomly stops working in safari. Then there's little annoyances like the airplay menubar icon always shifting itself to the left most spot.

Shutdown time is better than in Mountain Lion but not as fast as Lion.

My ML shut down time is much faster than that of Lion's. I did use FV during Lion so that could make a difference but I doubt that much.

Regarding the release, I have a feeling it will be at the time of the next event (iPad) so I'm looking forward to Oct. 15, if rumors are spot on.

iBooks is my main reason for upgrading too. I have a lot of tech books that I would like to view on my large display. I lowered my expectations that iBooks will crash, remove my downloads frequently, convert all my text to Chinese and Klingon, and lose my notes randomly, use a ton of CPU time, and take a long time to change pages. If it does anything close to the demo back in June, then I'll be happy.

I assume you are a developer? If so, could you report that? Another thing, how is the shutdown that people are having problems with?

I have no gut feeling about the release. Some say there are still a lot of bugs and crashes. At the very least I believe we will get a release date at the October event in case Mavericks is not released in time for the event.

Mavericks is ready to roll. GM will come tomorrow(Tuesday) and final release on October 15.

I'm not a developer, but even if I was there is no need to report to Apple that iBooks still needs work. They are well aware of it as it's obvious and has been undergoing slow but steady progress. As far as shutdowns, I'm still getting slow shutdowns. Interestingly though, the errors I get in the console log are completely different. It seems they fixed the old issues, but new ones exist, so hopefully they will be addressed in subsequent DPs or in the final GM.

Thanks for info...man..i hope they fix this shutdown issue..it may not be a problem for others...but it's kinda a problem for me. THanks though.

According to MR, AppleCare employees have begun training for Mavericks. Therefore I'm predicting Late October. Probably after earnings call? When is the quarter end? Sometime in October right?

It will probably be released either October 19th or October 26th.

Earning calls have been October 18th or October 25th in the past.
