Hi All,

so as the title says, i need to take my 13" in for repair, it's a 09 aluminium model and basically i thought i had lost a screw under my motherboard whilst upgrading my RAM so i tried to lift it up to have a look and in the process i had to undo the clips around the edges and the one of the ribbons held on by a clip, the clip broke so now the ribbon isn't attached and my laptop won't go to sleep :S, i need to visit a genius but dont have much money atm, ha anyone got any sort of idea how much apple will likely charge? it's just a clip bit but because of where it is am i going to expect something mental in the region of 3 digits?

i realise this post might be a bit of a longshot but i've never had to use apple's repair service before so any help on whether it is reasonably priced etc. would be greatly appreciated

thanks

The clip is almost certainly not a part available on it's own. If the clip was originally attached to the logic board you need a new logic board (hundreds of pounds).

Yep, if the clip is on the mainboard, as it sounds, it's going to be couple hundred at least, as they only do whole part replacements in common with most manufacturers I'm afraid.

Someone more specialist might be able to do something cheaper with just the clip, but I wouldn't know where to look.

You can get a quote anyway, but it might work out cheaper to just find a new board on ebay or something yourself too.
